To write great essays, it
is important to understand how to write great paragraphs. Before
writing, It is important to understand the purposes and elements
of a paragraph.
What is a paragraph, and
what are its elements?

Paragraph =
a group of words that equals ONE complete thought.
A complete
thought is Abstract.
It is an
idea, and the Main Idea (MI) of the
paragraph.
There should be primarily ONE abstract thought (MI)
per paragraph.
When introducing another abstract thought (MI) start
another paragraph.

Function of a
paragraph in an essay = to support the
Thesis. (the Main Ideas of the entire essay).
The purpose of a paragraph MI is to support the Thesis of an essay,
a larger idea that controls the essay.
Elements of a great paragraph
Paragraphs should look
like this.
